DESIGNING FOR GOURMET GARDENERS

The homeowners for this particular kitchen are Italian cooks and avid vegetable gardeners, which meant the kitchen needed special attention. This extensive renovation of the 19th century sea-side cottage solved kitchen conundrums and underused spaces by eliminating at once awkward layout and delivering a room that is both efficient and enjoyable.

A GATHERING PLACE

Today the homeowners cook and gather the family around a large island in an eat-in kitchen with endless views to the water. A seldom used door was replaced with a historically accurate oval window and surrounding cabinetry, creating function and a special view to the garden.
