On a beautiful summer evening, Taste Design was delighted to welcome more than 80 guests to celebrate the opening of Micro Macro: Worlds of Compositions, the inaugural exhibition of our 2026–2027 Artist in Residence, Amy Genser.

June 4, 2026 | Newport, RI
Amy Genser is Taste Design’s 2026-27 Artist in Residence
Taste’s opening reception to honor Amy and her work brought together clients, artists, colleagues, and friends for an inspiring gathering centered around art and community. Guests enjoyed delicious bites by Fig & Fromage, while sipping grapefruit Palomas, Amy’s signature cocktail.
As guests moved through the House of Taste – our dedicated client center – Amy’s remarkable work sparked conversation and admiration for her intricate, labor-intensive process. Her richly textured pieces invited attendees to experience them on multiple levels. From across the room, the works evoke aerial landscapes, waterways, and evolving ecosystems. Up close, they reveal thousands of meticulously hand-rolled paper elements. In her remarks that evening, Amy described her work as existing in the space between the micro and the macro.

As Patti mentioned when introducing Amy, her work has earned widespread recognition. Her accomplishments include multiple Awards of Excellence from Fiber Art Now, a CODAworx Award for Best of Hospitality, Best in Show honors from the Surface Design Association, and a Women’s Studio Workshop Fellowship, among many others. Her work has been featured in publications including Luxe Interiors + Design, New England Home, Architectural Digest, Fiber Art Now, and This Is Colossal.
Most importantly, the evening reflected exactly what we hope our Artist in Residence Program can foster: meaningful connections between artists, patrons, and our broader community. The energy in the room was warm and engaging, with guests lingering on the deck to enjoy the Newport sunset, discuss Amy’s work, and remark on the ever-growing artist community in Rhode Island.
