Taste Design welcomes Janice Parker to the 30th Annual Newport Flower Show
Each summer, the Newport Flower Show reminds us why beautiful places matter.
For a few days, the grounds of Rosecliff become a gathering place for people who care deeply about design and the ways our surroundings enrich our lives. It’s a celebration of creativity, certainly, but also of stewardship, learning, and community.
These are values that have long resonated with us at Taste Design.
As interior designers, we spend much of our time thinking about how people live within spaces. But the most memorable homes are never defined by their interiors alone. They are shaped by their setting and the relationship between architecture and landscape. The most successful environments feel connected to the vernacular of a place and to the people who call them home.
That is why we are proud to support the Newport Flower Show and, in particular, to sponsor the Education Tent.

The educational programming has become one of the most meaningful aspects of the show. It creates opportunities for thoughtful conversations and the sharing of ideas among designers, landscape architects, preservationists, and curious attendees alike. In a profession that is always evolving, continuing to learn from one another is essential.
This year, we were especially delighted to bring landscape architect Janice Parker to Newport to deliver the keynote address. Janice’s work has long been admired for its elegant restraint and profound sense of place. Her landscapes feel as though they have always belonged exactly where they are – an achievement that requires extraordinary skill and vision.
Hadley Keller Lloyd leads a discussion with Janice Parker
Her presentation and following conversation with Hadley Keller Lloyd of the Design Leadership Network offered a fascinating exploration of how landscapes shape our experience of home, and how thoughtfully designed outdoor spaces can foster connection and wellbeing. It was a discussion that reinforced something I have come to appreciate throughout my career: great design is rarely about making a statement. More often, it is about creating places that feel authentic, enduring, and deeply rooted in their surroundings.
At Taste, we believe education is one of the most meaningful investments we can make in our profession. Supporting the Education Tent allows us to help bring important voices and perspectives to the design community while encouraging dialogue across disciplines. We are honored to play a small role in helping those conversations happen.

We are grateful to The Preservation Society of Newport County for continuing to create this inspiring event and for preserving the extraordinary properties that make Newport such a special place. Their commitment to history and public engagement enriches our community and provides an invaluable source of inspiration for all who visit.
The Newport Flower Show is a celebration of what can happen when creativity and a respect for place come together. We are proud to support it and look forward to many more years of learning and being inspired.
Warmly,
