Design for Everyday Enjoyment
This classic shingle-style home sits on what may be the very best site in Jamestown on Mackerel Cove, offering a stunning water view overlooking the gardens. Inside the new construction home, our clients’ formidable art collection presented us with a thrilling aesthetic challenge: create a harmonious presentation of Modern and Asian art within a classically comfortable coastal home.
Our interior space planning, millwork designs, and finishes created honored places for their art with materials and details equal to the quality of the collection. We let the art lead the way and were sure to keep our compositions complementary to the artwork, not competitive with it.
The result is a home truly their own, and one so comfortable it has graduated from summer home to full-time residence. A truly gratifying result for everyone involved.
Key Takeaways:
The Importance of Prioritizing
Whether you’re in a vacation property or your forever home, you want to be able to live the life you enjoy the most. Because our clients are avid gardeners, an outdoor living program was an important part of this project. We prioritized including motorized screens on the porch for convenience as well as easy maintenance.
You can have breathtakingly beautiful spaces without blowing out your budget. Installing a vaulted ceiling in the kitchen transformed what could have been too cozy of a space into an appealing and inviting room. By managing spending closing and responsibly, we knew this upgrade was within the client’s budget and would dramatically improve their enjoyment of the space, in both form and function.
