Sneak Peeks:
Summer Projects in the Works this Winter

It’s February and that means our studio is a buzz with activity.  This is our peak time preparing homes for this coming summer, summer 2021, and beyond. Walk in our front door and you’ll see plans, materials, mock-ups and samples on just about every flat surface available.  Designers are huddled together working through design details at a steady pace and we’re meeting with clients daily to share ideas, gain feedback and move their homes closer to the finish line.

Overall, our spirits are high, even in the middle of a New England winter.  (As I work in my office I can feel the positive energy in the studio these days, and it makes me smile to overhear the collaborations going on, punctuated with doses of genuine laughter.)

We’re fortunate to be doing good work with great partners and exceptional clients.  Read on to get a sneak peek at some of the homes we’re creating this winter, for a lifetime summers to come.

____

Seaside Estate, Family Style

team taste members: Patti, Wendi, Kevin and Beth

Our work in Rhode Island usually takes us to the water and celebrates New England’s iconic shingle style architecture.  This seaside new construction home in Charlestown is a great example. We’re partners with Smook Architecture and J2 Construct on this gracious home that promises to bring the family years of fun inside and out (and on the sport court, too).

Mediterranean-Infused Coastal

team taste members: Megan, Patti, Ashley and Beth

If you know anything about taste, you know that serious renovating is in our blood.  We love a thoughtfully executed ‘gut job’ that challenges us to balance elements of the past with the conveniences of today.

This project is especially important to find that harmony because we’re preparing the family’s summer home for the 2nd and 3rd generations.  Twenty five years of summer memories are in these walls (some of which have been completely re-built).  Our work with Baud Builders and Dan Gordon Landscape Architects will help ensure that the family enjoys it for the next fifty years and beyond.

France via Palm Beach

team taste members: Wendi, Patti, Kevin and Abby

A taste of France in Palm Beach?  Indeed.  We’re working with wonderful clients to design their dream home in Palm Beach, inspired by their frequent travels to the French countryside.  Their commitment to authentic, high quality materials makes this project particularly pleasurable, right down to the limestone floors direct from Europe.  (And, watch for photos as the terra-cotta roof goes on and stucco facade is finished in the new few weeks.)

Construction is underway with a July completion date, so stay tuned as we near the finish line on this French excursion.

Stone Lea

team taste members: Patti, Julia, Kevin and Beth

The restoration of this McKim, Mead and White masterpiece has been in the works this past year – under the careful stewardship of our client who truly appreciates the architectural gem he acquired.  Original millwork, flooring, stair balustrade and fireplaces throughout the house are being restored wherever possible.  And when we can’t – elements salvaged from homes of the same period have been found and readied for their next life at Stone Lea.

Our partners on this special project include JP Couture, Dan Gordon Landscape Architects and Sweenor Builders and the walk through this afternoon left us all – client included – energized about our progress and a summer 2020 completion.
