When Italian cooks and avid vegetable gardeners are your clients, the kitchen gets special attention. This extensive renovation of a 19th-century seaside cottage solved kitchen conundrums and underused spaces.
Today, our clients cook and gather the family around a large island in an eat-in kitchen with endless views to the water. A seldom-used door was replaced with a historically accurate oval window and cabinetry surrounding it, creating function and a special view to garden.
A small dining room was repurposed as a grown-up parlor complete with a Tony bar, built-in humidor, and reclaimed fireplace that was carefully rebuilt to meet current codes. Coffered ceilings, wainscoting, custom newel posts, and a reproduction balustrade finished the home with historically accurate details that were likely present in the original home.
